“….to plan for the future we have to understand our past...”
Our alma mater, the Chinese General Hospital College of Nursing (CGH-CON), founded in 1921, is one of the oldest and the best colleges of nursing in the Philippines. It has produced graduates that have become famous in the field of nursing education, research, clinical practice and community service. It is a rich legacy we all enjoy and share.
The Chinese General Hospital Nursing Alumni Association, International (CGHNAAI) is a non-profit professional nursing organization of graduates of the Chinese General Hospital College of Nursing in Manila .The idea for such an organization was presented in 1986 to a group of alumni gathered at a picnic in Chicago, Illinois by Emma Balquiedra Nemivant ‘58, who was then the President of the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA), the national organization of the Philippine nurses in the United States. The rise and fall of any organization depends on its response to the challenges it faces. This was well documented by A. Toynbee in his “A Study of History “. The same must be true for our alumni association as well. Our history of 22 years is full of triumphs and challenges. May the lessons we learned in the past be our guide as our association marches on. And given the abundant talent available among our alumni, CGHNAAI can be assured that its future will be as bright as its past.
